The Security, Democracy & Cities conference

Efus organised the 8th edition of the Security, Democracy & Cities conference in Brussels in partnership with the Brussels-Capital Region, represented by safe.brussels, on 20-22 March 2024. Europe’s cities and regions came together to discuss the major social, political and democratic challenged of urban security ahead of the June 2024 European elections.

Aimed at all urban security stakeholders, the conference brought together local, regional, national and European elected officials, civil servants, magistrates, security professionals, social workers, researchers, representatives of the private sector and civil society, experts and representatives of European institutions and international organisations.

>>> Organised every three years, the conference gathers 800+ participants from 150 cities and regions in and outside of Europe

>>> 3 days to discuss local responses to security challenges facing local authorities that would complement national and European responses

>>> A unique opportunity for dialogue between cities and the EU during the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, a few months ahead of the European elections
